eMedical Academy Publishes New Case Study Sharing Details of Partnership with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beersheba, Israel
Boston, US – June 10, 2016 – eMedical Academy online ultrasound school for Point-of-Care ultrasound continuing education recently published a new case study on their website. The case study explores how the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva, Israel, incorporated the virtual ultrasound courses from eMedical Academy into the university’s medical school curriculum.
The Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is a public research university in Beer Sheva, Israel, with five campuses. The university introduced eMedical online ultrasound courses into their medical school training platform to help teach FoCUS exam principles to a cohort of medical students.
Challenges faced by the university that prompted a discussion with eMedical Academy included scalability problems, setting constraints, variant of instruction quality based on trainer availability and expertise, and limits on practice time. Bringing in eMedical Academy virtual ultrasound courses addressed these challenges, while still enabling the university to provide quality ultrasound education and instruction in a virtual environment.
One key highlight of the integration of eMedical virtual ultrasound courses into the Ben-Gurion medical school curriculum was that senior physicians were able to shift some of the learning burden to the trainees, freeing up time to increase trainee proficiency.
Additionally, access to the eMedical Academy course content improved FoCUS image acquisition for students. Specifically, “A study comparing FoCUS image acquisition among 120 medical students with and without access to eMedical Academy eViews course showed statistically significant improvement in FoCUS acquisition and speed among the group supported by the eViews course.”
