eMedical Academy finally closes an important gap in FOCUS teaching. I've used the eMedical Academy courses for the last 2 years to train WINFOCUS students.  As a program director who used to conduct in-person FoCUS training, I never want to go without the eMedical courses again! eMedical Academy courses offer … A well-designed intelligent and didactic combination of e-courses that best prepare participants to the practical hands-on sessions. Everyone learns, at his/her own rhythm, how to correctly scan and interpret focused cardiac images. "When preparing for the CCEexam, I struggled at first to find relevant study materials. As the exam is comprised of echocardiography, of course that information was key but relying on materials built strictly for cardiology ultrasound exams was missing a lot of key information on the CCeExam, and often times felt like the material was not relevant to ICU care. eMedical Academy is a growing part of our effort to train 120+ clinicians in the use of Point-of-Care ultrasound in the operating room. Learners engage the material on their own schedule, as opposed to spending scarce daytime hours sitting in lectures. This allows us to devote most of the in-person sessions to hands-on learning. The content is comprehensive and well-organized, with high quality clips, images, and animations. The platform works well without glitches. The eMedical Academy team has been highly accommodating in terms of meeting our evolving needs.

In 2017, Point-of-Care ultrasound training has been formally integrated into our medical school’s curriculum. This exciting change brought about a huge challenge – how to train 120 medical students each year. eMedical Academy’s eViews and eClips Courses made this difficult task possible with very little resources required from the faculty. We developed a train-the-trainer system, whereby senior medical students train junior students in image acquisition and interpretation. Selected group of senior medical students is given access to the eViews and eClips Courses, which allowed them to master the FoCUS exam with very little formal training from the faculty. The senior medical students then help train the junior students who are also given access to the eViews Course and practice at home on each other with hand-held ultrasound devices. At the end of the learning period we have formal hands-on workshop. The junior students arrive to the workshop with extensive knowledge, which allowed us to shorten the duration and the number of attending teachers required for these workshops.

Our POCUS course is attended by senior physicians from Israel and the region. So far, over 400 physicians have attended these courses over the years. In 2014 we added to the course curriculum eMedical Academy’s online, self-learning courses. These online courses help our POCUS students learn and practice at home, both in preparation for and during the life course. Since the integration of eMedical Academy’s courses into our course curriculum there is very clear improvement in the students’ readiness to the live course and their ability to perform the focused cardiac ultrasound exam. In a survey we conduced to the course participants they declined receiving a discount in exchange of giving up eMedical Academy courses, which speaks highly of the quality of the content the courses.

To the dear staff of eMedical Academy, For the past few years we have been sending a group of medical students to rural Africa to treat patients in a small community hospital. Because the community hospital had no access to imaging, in 2018 we conducted a short course in Point-of-Care ultrasound (POCUS) and provided the students with a hand-held ultrasound device. To enable them to rapidly improve their POCUS diagnostic skills in a resource-scarce environment we used the online eViews course and eClips Library provided by your company. Experienced doctors and students alike all agreed that the use of these educational resources greatly improved their ability to use POCUS in diagnosing and managing patients during this project in Africa. We are grateful for this kind support.

The software is accessible, easy to use and pleasant for the eye. Most explanations are clear, detailed and allow for effective learning of the different concepts. In addition, the interactive slides are helpful in retention of positions and anatomy. I found the trouble shooting section to be extremely helpful. The online course was a good way to learn the proper lingo and attain the basic image acquisition principals, but it must be complemented by hands on practice on a mode. (Translated)
